Every music fan understands the excitement and pure chaos when it comes to supporting their favorite artists by seeing them live. As a Harry Styles fan who liked his newest single and anticipates his upcoming album release, you wait in line in the Ticketmaster queue. After hours of waiting, you open up to the pricing page to be hit in the face with quadruple digits.
Styles made his return as a music artist after nearly four years with the lead single: “Aperture,” which set the record for the biggest Spotify #1 drop ever, instantly charting the top spot. The song is daringly different from his other well-known singles like his 2022 48-week chart-topper “As It Was,” because “Aperture” is heavily inspired by techno and electronic styles and includes funky synthesizers that made me want to jump up and dance.
His lyrics are a little difficult to understand at times due to the techno-style autotune, but extremely catchy because they are so repetitive. The chorus was instantly stuck in my head and had me in a good mood for the rest of the day. With the potential to become a smash success for Styles, “Aperture” starts as a quietly joyous tune that builds into a full-fledged disco nightclub song. It’s a track that’s styled for generations to enjoy, and for hugging strangers on the dance floor. The chorus includes the lyric “We belong together,” which has become Styles’s mantra in debuting this new era, as he announced a 2026 world tour called Together, Together.
Many fans are upset all over the globe because the quote-unquote “world tour” only has seven locations total, including only four continents and one 30-night residency in the US, at Madison Square Garden, New York. Other international residencies include 4-15 nights of music, The most outrageous part of the experience: the ticket prices. The most expensive VP packages and floor tickets are well above $2,000, and even the furthest nosebleed seats are being resold upwards of $800. As a long-time fan of Styles, who is used to his affordable pricing for shows, I am extremely disappointed that the tour has become a money grab, gouging fans’ wallets and leaving behind most fans who can’t afford to spend that on one ticket alone. Despite the obvious disappointment in live music, Styles does an incredible job at introducing a new style as he prepares to release the rest of the album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, on Mar. 6.
