Fetty Wap ( Zavier Willie Junior Maxwell II) released his album Zavier on Mar 27. The title references his birth name to symbolize a lifestyle change after his recent release from prison, after serving over two years for Drug Conspiracy charges. Zavier has 17 total songs with ties referencing his most popular single, which went certified diamond in 2015, “Trap Queen”.
There’s been much anticipation from fans, as Fetty Wap has continued releasing music from jail, but not the same fully produced music that Fetty Wap is known for. His music is a huge part of the huge social media movement of bringing back 2016 vibes as “2026 is the new 2016.” it. Soon after getting released, he performed his popular songs, “Fetty Wap”, “679,” and “Again,” around different college campuses, hyping everyone up for the release.
I’ve been especially excited about the new album because for years I listened to his previous music with my mom, as she was a big fan. Now hearing his songs on my own, I love the beat that makes you want to dance.
My favorite songs on the album are “Right Back to You” and “White Roses” with Divininity and Ymanie (Ymanie Zavier). “Right Back to You” sounds similar to “Trap Queen” and that 2016 vibe, but “White Roses” has a jazz flow and a more mature feel than his other songs. It’s an upbeat, happy song.
There is definitely a different sound on the new album. It’s a lot more singing than hard rap. In “ I Remember/Dear Zavier,” featuring G Herbo (Herbert Randall Wright II), Fetty’s softer vocals are balanced out by his rap verse.
If you’re looking for songs that are completely like the songs on his most popular album, Fetty Wap (Deluxe), I would not recommend this album, but if you’re interested in something new from Fetty Wap, definitely listen to it.
