Clue is a play based on the 1949 board game that includes six playable characters: Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, and Mrs. White, who are at a dinner party when their host is mysteriously murdered.
Each character must find clues, such as who, what, and where the murder was committed, to win the game. The play adaptation, performed by Titan Theatre Oct. 23-25, develops its own unique, humorous twists while still keeping a similar plot.
Senior JJ Basch, played Colonel Mustard, and has been a lead in 10 Poway High productions since he was a freshman, not including his outside work. Basch has been attracted to theater and the theater crowd from a young age and feels it is a safe place to be himself with so many unique accepting people.
“I really like the community that it builds. I think that even when somebody feels like they aren’t connected to a show or acting itself, finding people there that are good people who are nice, amazing, and super-talented is what makes it worth it,” Basch said.
Sophomore Kaylee Collett, who played Miss Scarlett, has been a part of Titan Theatre since she started here, and has been in three productions; Alice in Wonderland, one-acts, and Clue.
She began acting nine years ago, and not only dabbled in theater but also tried a few different sports for a bit, but she eventually returned to her true passion; theater. Collett is now Treasurer of the Titan Drama Club. She is excited to expand her theater career and be a part of many more productions at the school.
Student director Andrea Aguirre is a hardworking junior. This is her first time directing, and said she had a blast alongside the amazing cast and crew.
According to Aguirre, the cast was like glue with a supportive, fun environment, especially between Collett and Basch.
“Their dynamic is so fun, and when you add in a random ensemble or someone filling in, they always lend a hand to make a safe space,” Aguirre stated.
