How did AP Testing Go?

At the start of May, Advanced Placement (AP) classes wrap up and students take the tests they’ve been preparing for all school year. Students, some experiencing AP testing for the first time, shared how their AP testing went.

“I took the United States History test. I think it went really well, and personally, I did phenomenal. It was a little hard to prepare for this because my teacher, Daniel Cook, was out on paternity leave.” –Junior Shane Crawford

“I took the AP World test, and I thought it was really long and complicated. My history teacher, Noah Lapp, definitely helped prepare us for the test. It was my first time taking the AP test, and it was more serious than expected.” -- Sophomore Audrey Waasted

Advice to our freshman year selves
Arno Chrispeels, who taught AP Biology, biology, sheltered biology, and physical science for 31 years at Poway High School. He wants to buy a sailboat and sail around the world. “I’ll be sailing across the country to Florida and explore the east coast, and then next winter head down to the Caribbean,” Chrispeels said. His favorite part about teaching at Poway is the different types of kids there are.
Teachers give final advice to graduating seniors
History teacher Curtis Lewis is retiring after 26 at Poway High, where he taught AP US History, civics, AP Human Geography, and AP Government. He plans to move to a more affordable area where he can experience all four seasons and a different pace of life. “There’ve been a lot of great teachers and friends and students, and I still keep in contact with students that I had over 20 years ago,” Lewis said.

I love to take photos for the Iliad, and interviewing students for “Talking Heads” is my favorite assignment. My three favorite interests outside of the Iliad are going to the beach with friends, shopping, and playing sports. I see myself going around the world with my future husband, raising a family, and having a successful job. (Class of 2026)
