After not releasing music for five years, Jordan Carter, also known as Playboi Carti, dropped MUSIC on March. 14. The album has 30 songs and features many stars like Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, Solána Imani Rowe (SZA), Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (The Weeknd), The Future, Lil Uzi, and Travis Scott. The drop was planned, but fans were questioning if it would actually happen.
Carti planned to release it at midnight Pacific time, but the album actually dropped at 4:45 a.m. the next day, which had many fans up late waiting excitedly for his music. This album could be recognized through short snippets of future music teasers heard on Spotify and TikTok, but Carti was able to create a musical masterpiece with some of the biggest artists in the music world right now.
I would say the vibe is pretty similar to his past music, but he has evolved with his music as time goes on. Some bangers are “K-POP,” “EVIL J0RDAN,” and “RATHER LIE” featuring the Weeknd.
These songs, in particular, had stood out with their different beats and the melodies adding all together as on the song “FINE SH*T” with its melody that enlightens my eardrums making it feel like I’m floating in a cloud.
Some tracks I would not recommend would be “TOXIC,” “OLYMPIAN,” and “TWIN TRIM.” These songs repeated themselves and the beats are just off. My least favorite is “TWIN TRIM” because of the beat not adding up and the song just being kind of basic with nothing special. The whole thing is creative and different from your average rap album.
The songs are a blend of rap and electric music that fills your soul in the best way possible and should be listened to at least once. As this is different from every other rap album, I would recommend to listen to it at least once and give it a try.
