Dennis Parrison rides around campus in his golf cart, waving at students and smiling as Titans enter the gates, starting their day off well.
The newest campus supervisor was hired not just for his expertise but also for his positivity about his job.
“He’s a team player and just has a great attitude towards the work that we do to keep all our students safe,” principal Jonathan Penuliar said.
As a campus supervisor, Parrison will protect students, staff, and property by patrolling campuses, monitoring entrances, and controlling visitor access.
“I would love to see our campus security advisors seen as people who are here to keep them safe, so we can trust that our school environment is somewhere that they can be free to learn,” Penuliar said.
Parrison worked at UCSD as a supervisor before joining Poway High School.
“It’s a big difference because we deal with minors now, UCSD was adults. He also works at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, where he supervises sales games, the gold games, and any concerts that they have,” Parrison said.
Parrison is also a DJ and a coach.
“I coach meadow brooks and twin peaks flag football teams and at Friday Night Lights.” Parrison said.
Whether he’s watching the halls, cheering on students, or spinning tracks as a DJ, Parrison proves that security can come with a smile and make a real difference on campus.
