Upperclassmen are looking forward to walking into The Eve on San Diego Bay with friends by their side, taking the perfect photos, and having a fun night filled with dancing and making lifelong memories.
Prom is the biggest dance of the school year, and the administration hopes to give everyone who wants to attend the opportunity to go.
Little green papers were posted around campus with a QR code linked to a survey about whether students would be able to afford different aspects of Prom. They wanted to know if a student would not be able to attend the dance due to ticket prices being too high, and if suit or dress prices were a factor in not going.
“We are working with an organization that is helping provide dresses to the girls who need help,” Student Services Specialist Aurelia Bea said.
Bea helped with organizing the new program, and plans on continuing to offer it every year. It is through the generosity of staff at Poway High that they can offer assistance.
“It’s been pretty exciting to see the staff who have stepped up and offered to donate and sponsor. I’m super grateful for them; they have good hearts,” Bea said.
Tickets for the event this year range from $70-$95, which is a lot for some students, especially those who will not have it paid for by their parents.
“We know that Prom is really important to the students’ experiences in high school, so we want to make sure that everyone who wants to experience it can. If somebody needs a ticket, we can purchase that,” Assistant Principal Cindy Lewis said.
