Unified Sports Basketball Game
On Feb. 6 Poway Unified Sports will host a basketball game in the gym at lunch. The unified team will compete against teachers. To give the game enough time, a modified bell schedule will be implemented, including a longer lunch period. There will be a closed campus to encourage all to cheer the teams on.
Elective fair
Curious about unique courses offered on campus? On Feb. 10, teachers from over 20 electives will be at informational tables, ready to answer students’ questions. Classes include electives, publications, and lesser-known courses. This is an opportunity to learn more about classes offered on the course request forms that come out in early spring. The lunch schedule will be a closed campus and 30 minutes longer, to give students more time to eat lunch and ask questions.
Senior singled out
On Feb. 13, Poway will host the annual Singled Out friendship matching contest to spring into Valentine’s Day spirit. Senior contestants will be chosen by signing up via Google form, which is available on Poway Class of ‘26 Instagram or directly from ASB students. The form includes asking students questions about different topics of interest, which will be used to test the compatibility between our seniors and two senior “singles” from Rancho Bernardo High School. The senior with the most in common with an RB senior will be their match.
Powderpuff games
Making a comeback this year, powderpuff teams will return under the Friday night lights. Teams of junior and senior girls will face off on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. This year’s teams will be coached by two junior and senior varsity flag football players and two junior and senior varsity football players. Powderpuff gives girls who are not on the new flag football team a chance to shine under the lights, because the flag girls are ineligible to play. Team members were drawn on Jan. 16, and practices are taking place at lunch.
