Breisch on track to break school record
Taking the ball, senior Robert Breisch launched it past the goalie, straight into the back of the net. Breisch leads the varsity boys lacrosse team to victory against Cherokee Trail on March 22 and cemented himself as the second highest scorer in a single season in school history.
Senior Brady Tremble plays alongside Breisch, and when Breisch reached that milestone, it felt like a win for the whole team.
“We were all super proud of him. He has worked extremely hard every day in and outside of practice,” Tremble said.
All of this hard work has paid off for Breisch, both physically and emotionally.
“It feels awesome. It’s nice to set school records that are a reflection of my hard work over the years that will simultaneously serve as motivation for players in the future,” Breisch said.
Breisch’s main goal is to focus on giving his best effort and doing all the little things right, so that way stuff like setting records just comes naturally on its own.
Junior Timothy Salamy has also played with Breisch, and has felt their teammate relationship grow through this success.
“I think the team really started to trust in Robby and what he had to say once we saw how well he could play,” Salamy said.
Breisch aims to break the record again this season.
The team has won two out of their six first games, triumphing over Scripps Ranch 8-5 in their first outing, and then taking three consecutive defeats against Bishop’s, Mountain Vista, and Foothill before finally prevailing against Cherokee Trail 15-14, followed with another defeat to St. Margaret’s. They will face Del Norte tonight, March 31, at home at 7 p.m. After this, they have nine more regular season games.
