Although the coronavirus pandemic did not allow most athletes to display their full talents, Poway still has a plethora of players who have committed to the next level of education and athletics. These senior athletes are excited to showcase their skills at the next level.

Vance Jefferson is committed to the University of San Diego to play wide receiver for their Division I football team. He was a big part of Poway football’s undefeated season this year.

Senior Katie Detamore is committed to Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois to play Division III softball. A shortstop, she’s eager to continue playing the sport she grew up playing.

“I am thrilled that I will be able to keep playing in college, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be offered a chance to make even more friends while playing the sport I grew up loving,” said senior Katie Detamore.

Andre Gonzales committed to Ohio State University for Division I men’s wrestling. A multiple time state champion, he is yet another success story to come out of the Poway Wrestling Program.

Siegmund Baecker committed to play safety for Division III El Camino College. “I am very excited and thankful to have the opportunity to attend and play football in college, and can not wait to get there,” Baecker said.

Committing to Suffolk University is Trevor Gould. He’s committed to play Division III baseball for the Boston, Massachusetts university, and he’s one of many future collegiate baseball players at Poway. 

Trinity Coker is staying close to Poway, at San Diego State University to play Division I women’s soccer.

“I’m super excited to be near home, and I’ve always known I wanted to stay local. I’m excited for the opportunity to play Division I soccer, and I can’t wait to see what player I’m going to develop into,” Coker said.

Committed to University of California San Diego volleyball is Brett Pursley. An integral part of Poway’s varsity volleyball this year, he is yet another Titan staying close to home.

All in all, Poway’s 2021 graduating class is going to be well represented athletically at the collegiate level.
