DANCING THROUGH THE SNOW

Titan country’s most spirited dancers, the Grinch, and even Santa Claus danced through the snow at Poway Dance Project’s 10th annual Winter Concert on Dec. 3.

“PDP has so much fun putting on this show for all our friends,” senior Lexie Roche said. “It’s just such a happy, joyful experience and the best way to start out the holiday season!”

While the nationally ranked team dance brings audiences joy any time of the year, this concert was extra festive as the upperclassmen dancers invited promising titans up on stage to share the spotlight. Twelve lucky boys transformed into cheery elves to prepare for the big night and dazzled during their performances both at the Performing Arts Center and during the winter pep rally on Dec. 13.

“My favorite [dance move] was the twerking, it got the crowd hype and I would love to get to perform next year!” junior elf Hayden Jackson said.

But before Santa’s Elves had their moments to shine, PDP performed both Christmas choreography to holiday classics like “Here Comes Santa Claus” and “All I Want for Christmas” along with some of their other styles of dance to a variety of songs like “Attention” and “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels.”

“My favorite dance to perform was probably “Quiet Crowd” because it’s one of our most competitive routines and the energy on stage when we perform is already so amazing!” junior Aliza Workman said.

Though the holiday season is coming to a close, the competitive season for PDP is just getting started with a competition in Las Vegas from Jan. 10-12.

“I’m looking forward to competition season!  I’m so excited to travel to Florida again this year for one of our Nationals…. along with cherishing every moment I get to take the floor with these girls by my side,” Roche said.
