Rushing down the field, dodging her opponents, senior Jordan Lemler is a unit on the Varsity Flag Football team. Senior Jordan Lemler plays offensive and defensive running back. She’s in charge of sacking, rushing, blocking, and pressuring the quarterback.
She started playing because of her interest in trying a new sport in addition to soccer and cross country.
“I was really interested in doing another sport, and when I found out we had flag football, I had to try it. I’ve already played a season of FNL in middle school, so I knew I would like it,” Lemler said.
She has been on varsity since flag football was introduced here.
The varsity team is currently first in the Avocado League, 4-1, with a 13-6 overall record.
Lemler was a vital member who contributed to the team’s success last season, advancing to the second round of the CIF San Diego Section Girls Flag Football Division I Championships playoffs. This season, the team qualified for the CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) Division I playoffs, which start Nov. 8.
She currently holds the PHS record for most sacks this season.
“She’s got the athleticism and mindset that if she wants to pursue the sport in college and beyond, she could. In my opinion, she’s one of the best offensive players in San Diego County already,” Varsity Flag Football coach David Arnold said.
While being such a good athlete, Lemler doesn’t let this get to her head.
“She is a really good team player. She is always finding ways to help the team and hypes up the team, creating a more positive environment, and always influences people to try harder with her work effort,” senior MaKenzie Arnold said.
In addition to flag football, Lemler is on the varsity cross-country and soccer teams.
After High School, she is looking to possibly go to the college level in any of her sports.
