Varsity volleyball began their season with only three returners, making the team have to work together and get to know each other quickly.
So far the team has a record of 7-19, and 0-3 in their league.
Although this is not the record they would hope to have they are determined to turn it around.
Key players include Grace Thomson, Victoria Barker, and Corinne Milling.
Coach Breezy Ambort believes that these three captains can guide new players through this tough season.
Although they have had tough losses, there have been positive moments.
¨We lost against Granite Hills but we battled with them. We had highlighted moments between that game and Del Norte,¨ Ambort said.
Junior Victoria Barker believes the team has made progress.
¨I think the team has improved so much this season and has been able to grow and learn from all our mistakes to keep persevering,¨ Barker said.
She knows firsthand how a good learning environment is key to success, and she puts responsibility on herself and other captains to teach the new players how to communicate while playing.
Junior Sarah Gonzalez thinks their season is going well and is a learning experience.
She believes they have been playing better than their record shows.
¨We are building our chemistry, and we are a very tight and close group,¨ Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez expresses now that last year’s seniors have graduated it’s on them to teach the younger girls how to be great players so they can fill their shoes after graduation.
Their next game is against Westview at home on Oct 22.
