As the Poway High football team walked on the field after their third straight win, they had their sights set on a victory against Ramona on Sept. 13 and came through with a satisfying (49-7) blowout. Striking first, Poway delivered 2 touchdowns in the first two quarters without a response.
They have faced many tough competitors this season, with a tough matchup of La Costa Canyon which many believe will be a hard fought game, “I love high pressure games with fans cheering us on, ” sophomore Justin Julian said.
Pressure is high and the team has high expectations of each other and their success. “We want to keep winning and stay competitive throughout the season,” senior Oliver Vera said.
Scoring over 30 points a game in their last three wins, Poway is scorching hot going into their next game against La Costa Canyon on Oct. 4.
They Strive to keep a winning record and continue to win games with hard work and hours of practice that pay off on the field.
Football training camp was a good opportunity for team commitment and working out for the players before the season, getting to know each other and bringing the team closer together, “My favorite part of the season was camp. I got to talk to and bond with people on the team I never met,” sophomore Delonte Hillery said.
Limiting points has been a strong aspect of the titans game, even when losing holding the opposing team to a limited amount of points. In their last loss against Del Norte (34-10), allowing 34 points the most of the season. Go head out to cheer them on Oct. 4 against La Costa Canyon.
