Have you ever heard a song for the first time and then constantly played it repeatedly until you’re sick of it? I immediately put Beabadoobee’s new album on repeat when it was released last month, and I’m still not sick of it due to the catchy tunes and variety of the album.
I am not surprised that Beabadoobee met my expectations and the anticipation was worth it for her new music. Beatrice Laus has quickly gained fame since 2018. Most commonly known by her stage name, which she stole from her “fake Instagram account,” she has gained popularity for her music through TikTok more recently.
This is How Tomorrow Moves, released August 9, is her newest album consisting of fourteen songs.
Previously, she wrote songs about love and, as she puts it, “her reacting to other people”. However, this album has a different feel to it. Beabadoobee writes about her emotions and actions in her alternative music style. The album has a good blend of louder songs featuring her playing the guitar, or more sadder, deeper songs.
. In her song, “This Is How It Went,” she addresses drama regarding a previous song “This is How It Goes,” about the betrayal of her best friend who got involved with her ex-boyfriend. The follow-up song offers a new perspective. In interviews and shows, Beabadoobee claims that she feels like she has grown up and needs to stop blaming people and take accountability too.
That is exactly how her new album feels – a “grown-up” version of her music before, and far more mature than her original: “Glue Song.” However, I still listen to that older song occasionally.
My favorite songs on the new album include, “Take a Bite,” “Real Man,” “Post,” and “Beaches”. Now, I am hoping to see this new album performed live soon. I am not surprised that Beabadoobee met my expectations and the anticipation was worth it for her new music.
