Seniors take on the happiest place on earth

Seniors were humming with excitement as the buses pulled into the parking lot. After having finally made it past the halfway point of senior year, and having just sat on a bus for an hour and a half, the students could not wait to get to spend their day at the happiest place on earth.

On Feb. 5, 247 members of the class of 2022 got to go on their long-awaited class trip to Disneyland. Getting to spend the day with their friends promised an exciting day, and some students had the additional excitement of it being their first trip to the Magic Kingdom.

“It was my first time going to Disneyland, so I was looking forward to just being there and riding all the rides,” senior Kayla Nielsen said. “I knew it would be pretty fun since everyone was so hyped up about it, but I didn’t realize just how much fun I would have. I had a fantastic time, and the trip will probably be my favorite memory of senior year.”

Some students had not been since their 8th grade school trip, and they were looking forward to seeing the new developments to the park. With the opening of Star Wars land in 2019, many seniors had the opportunity to explore that area of the park for the first time.

“My favorite ride that I went on had to be Rise of the Resistance. The technology used in that ride was unmatched and as a huge Star Wars fan it was just the coolest thing ever!” senior Allyson Kowalski said.

Although Splash Mountain was closed, and Indiana Jones and Space Mountain were periodically shut down, seniors still got to experience most of their favorite rides in the park.

“The thing I was looking forward to most was the Tiki Room because it is chill, and I love it when the birds sing,” senior Jesse Gamez said. “Indiana Jones was my favorite ride because Indiana Jones is a cool dude and I want to hunt for treasure like him.”

With less than four months to go until graduation, the seniors enjoyed getting to go on one last field trip as a class.
