Looking for great Holiday activities this holiday season? Candy Cane Lane is a neighborhood located in the center of Poway off of Hickory St. every house participates in decorating their house with lights to its full potential. It’s the perfect place to go. Not only are residents taking precautions for COVID, but the neighborhood is filled with holiday cheer and laughter.

“Every year I go to Candy Cane Lane, and it never lets me down from getting into the Christmas spirit,” senior Baylei Boyer said.

Candy Cane Lane is a local neighborhood on Hickory Street in Poway where every house goes full out with lights, blow up decorations, music, and more. You can either drive and look around or park and walk around wearing masks and social distancing from other groups.

In past years some houses also offered fun, engaging activities like karaoke nights, writing letters to Santa, dance parties, movie set-ups, houses selling hot chocolate and cookies, but sadly this year with the whole pandemic they aren’t offering that, but there were plenty of other ways to feel the holiday spirit.

Sophie McNeil-Spooner has gone to Candy Cane Lane every year since she has moved to Poway. “I have so much fun walking around looking at all the lights. There was this one house that had so many lights that caught everyone’s attention. You would be crazy to not stop and get a picture with it,” senior Sophie McNeill-Spooner said.

It’s the perfect way to bring everyone (not-to-closely) together in these troubling times. The light show happens from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the start of December and goes through the whole month. Gavin Boyer recommends going during the weekdays, “I went on a Saturday night, and it was very busy. Cars were backed up to every street, but I also went on a Wednesday, and it wasn’t as busy, but both days were a lot of fun.”

Residents encourage visitors to be respectful of the houses and the people around them by wearing masks and social distancing. Make sure to stop by at this amazing light show, you don’t want to miss it.
