Lakers Take Home the Gold

Heat face a devastating loss in the championship.

The Los Angeles Lakers have done it again. After a long six-game series against the Miami Heat for the 2020 NBA Championship, the Lakers brought home the title after defeating the Heat with a record of 4-2.

Many players from both sides worked their hardest making each and every game a high-scoring, exciting game to watch. With small forward LeBron James leading the Lakers with the most points (29.8), rebounds (11.0), and assists (8.5) per game, the Lakers really gave the Heat a run for their money. The Heat put up a good fight in the end as shooting guard Jimmy Butler carried his team in points (26.2), rebounds (8.3), and assists (9.8) per game throughout the series.

With the Lakers leading the series with a record of 3-2 entering game 6 of the finals after Miami clutched game 5 with a score of 111-108, the final game could have gone either way. The Lakers put on a defensive performance for the ages as they led wire-to-wire to seal the game. In the end, LeBron James with the help of Anthony Davis led the Los Angeles Lakers to a Game 6 blowout victory and had a triple-double in the closeout game winning 106-93.

With the Lakers facing tragedy back in January with the death of franchise icon Kobe Bryant as well as everyone else facing the pandemic and all the complications to the season that came with it, every NBA player has been tested and humbled. Many are grateful they were able to pull off an entire season safely.
