ROLE MODELS GIVING THEIR LAST LESSON
The varsity girls’ soccer team is full of talented players, who are interested in continuing their athletic endeavors in their futures. There are currently 21 athletes on the Poway High girls varsity roster, which consists of Natalie Cuevas, Julia Widmer, Sydney Kallmann, Devyn Kern, Anais Thompson, Alyssa Lopez, Carlie Anderson, Alexa Silva, Katie Ellis, Jackie Cuevas, K. Dicintio, Morgan Lusk, F. Polinski, G. Martinez-Lopez, Emily Cook, Patricia Bandrup, Alex Pineda, Izzy Edmunds, R. Marquis, Olivia Indigo, and Ashley Clark.
Captain Kallmann plays midfielder. She has played since she was four years old and continues to work on her game.
“I use to play Field Hockey, but chose to devote my time towards soccer to put more of my time into one sport rather than two, and I will be going to play at Cal Poly in SLG now due to this,” Kallmann said.
She has many memories here at Poway High which have shaped her to be where she is right now.
“One of my best memories here at Poway High was winning back to back league championships in my freshman and sophomore years,” Kallmann said.
Carlie Anderson has also been played since the age of four and plans to continue doing so in college.
“I plan on winning league this year and pushing on to win much more at Miramar Community College,” she said.
Anais Thompson has been playing soccer since the age of 6 and plans to continue playing through this year the best she can.
“I plan on going to college to play at a D1 university for softball, and although I will choose softball, my experience and time on this soccer team will never leave me,” Thompson said.
Throughout her time here she had played soccer while building memories and improving growth areas.
“One of my best moments here was when i scored the first goal against El Camino,” Thompson said.
All of the athletes have long careers ahead of them and they all start out at Poway High on the girls varsity soccer team.
