Smoke going through the air, the crowd jumping up and down, Senior class president Kaylaine Le chants at the front of the student section. Hardworking, focused, and determined are the words ASB Director Erica Rangel uses to describe Le.
“She has a clear focus and vision of what she wants to do, and she gets things done,” Rangel said.
Le has been part of ASB since eighth grade, giving her years of leadership experience before stepping into her role as senior class president.
She said her biggest motivation came from her older sister, who was also involved in ASB.
“She’s just always been a big role model in my life, and I wouldn’t be in ASB without her,” Le said.
This year, one of the most rewarding moments for Le was planning Senior Sunrise and speaking at the first day of school assembly.
Her favorite memory so far has been MORP. “I had so much fun in the mosh pit,” Le said.
Outside of ASB, Le is focused on preparing for her future. She plans to major in biology and hopes to attend UCI (University of California, Irvine).
Looking back, Le says she would advise her younger self to embrace new experiences.
“I would tell myself to just go out there, meet new people, and do what makes me happy,” Le said.
Starting as class officer her freshman year, Le has worked her way up in Poway’s ASB, building connections and leadership skills.
Many of her memories came from her time working behind the scenes at school events. “We see the background of planning events like prom, MORP, and pep rallies. . . Other people don’t realize how much work we put in,” Le said.
More than anything, Le hopes her class will be remembered for its hype and excitement.
