Senior Sophia Burmeister catches a strike ball from senior pitcher Mya McGowan.
Celebrating senior night on the diamond
In a back-and-forth game that remained tied at 0-0 with high tension until the fourth inning, the only home run came from senior Mya McGowan, which got the girls fired up, resulting in a 4-0 win on their senior night. Varsity Softball coach Jim Bennett stood in front of a huge crowd of Poway and RB fans at the Poway Sportsplex on May 16, and introduced seniors Madison Loper, Sophia Grimm, Mya McGowan, and Sophia Burmeister.

My favorite section to write for is Sports because I’ve played sports my whole life, and it’s fun to know what’s going on in the Athletic program here at Poway. Outside of the Iliad, I’ve been cheering for eight years and now do competitive cheer. I am this year’s captain Of Poway Elite Cheer a Non-Affiliated cheer program. I love to go to Belmont Park with my friends and hang out at the beach. I plan on going to Southwestern Community College to become an ultrasonography technician or someone in Sports Marketing.
