Varsity Softball, making beautiful plays and astonishing teamwork, came out strong and fearless, defeating Bonita Vista 3-0 in a commanding performance that showcased their talent, teamwork, and rising-star power.
Behind the sharp pitching of sophomore Aubrey Stritz, the Titans held Bonita Vista scoreless through seven innings. Stritz was in top form, mixing speeds and hitting her spots to keep opposing batters off balance throughout the game.
Her poise in the circle set the tone early, allowing the Titans to stay aggressive on both sides of the ball.
Offensively, Poway capitalized on key scoring opportunities, with clutch hits in the middle innings that drove in three runs and gave them the cushion they needed.
Senior Sophia Burmeister had a phenomenal performance in this game, keeping her team focused and ready. Burmeister dominated and locked in the run for the win. She intimidated the field and was prepared to battle Bonita Vista with skill and strategy.
“When I hit my home run, I knew that we were going to win that game because I knew that with great pitching and defense, we were going to keep them from scoring,” Burmeister said.
Burmeister leads the team in hitting with a 0.538 batting average.
“It was a good win against a good team and will help us in the future to prepare. Burmeister did great and did an amazing job with hitting,” varsity coach Lauren Hall said.
Their defense was equally strong, backing up Stritz with clean fielding and sharp throws to shut down any rally attempts from Bonita Vista.
The victory marks another step forward in what has been a promising season for Poway. They are doing great with 16-5 scoring with an exciting season ahead of them.
With strong leadership, a deep bench, and a growing sense of confidence, the Titans are emerging as a team to watch as they head into the heart of league play.

My favorite section to write for is sports because it helps me learn about different teams and it gives me a chance to watch how they are played in real life. Outside of the Iliad, I have always had a passion for ice skating and have been skating most of my life. I like hanging out with my friends and going to amusement parks. In the future, I would like to do something with animals. (Class of 2027)
