Creating a hit trilogy series of movies based on books is like hitting the jackpot. But, the odds of winning the lottery again are extremely slim. Mercedes Ron adapted her book My Fault into a movie from page to screen.
Culpa Mia the Spanish movie adaptation of My Fault was such a hit around the world that Prime Video released My Fault London, a British version of the movie.
I loved Culpa Mia so much that I watched it over and over, and I am still not sick of it. Shortly after Culpa Mia was released it was announced that they would be making a London version. It was released on Feb. 13. When Prime Video announced that they would be releasing a British version of the movie I was skeptical about it but a bit of me was excited.
A teenage girl named Noah Moran has to uproot her life and move in with her mother’s new rich husband who she’s never even met. Moran grew up with an abusive father who is in jail. She is still trying to cope with her trauma. Moran isn’t happy about leaving her life behind, but she is even more upset about having to deal with her new step-brother.
When Moran meets her step-brother Nick Leister, the loathing for each other is instant. They both plan to stay as far away from each other as possible. But in the process of trying to hate each other, they are walking a fine line between hate and love.
I forgot about the movie until I saw everyone on TikTok saying that they thought it was way better than Culpa Mia. I saw a lot of people saying that Leister was a lot less toxic and their relationship was overall better.
Although I liked My Fault London, nothing will beat the original. What made Culpa Mia good was the tension and the hate for each other. In the London version, I never felt the hate, they went straight into liking each other.
Compared to the Spanish version, Leister and Moran didn’t have the same enemies-to-lovers feel that the other movie had. It felt so rushed and like they never got the chance to understand each other before they got together.
Overall, I enjoyed My Fault London, but Culpa Mia will always be my favorite. Nine times out of ten the original is always better and that definitely applies to this. Making another version of an already good movie trilogy doesn’t make sense to me. Since the movie was released it has been announced that both the Spanish and British version would be coming out with a second and third movie. Culpa Mia has released the second movie, Culpa Tuya. But, I would recommend you watch both of the movies and form your own opinion.
