Trader Joe’s never disappoints with its snacks and easy to make meals. Now, with a new location off of Poway and Midland Road, the store is more accessible to Poway residents. To help narrow down holiday food options, I reviewed some of its most popular festive snacks. I decided to try the Peppermint Pretzel Slims, Peppermint Crunch Popcorn, Dark Chocolate Peppermint Joe Joe’s,
English Toffee Bites, German Iced Gingerbread Soft Spiced Cookies, and the Jingle Jangle Pretzels. Although I am not a huge fan of peppermint, I was pleasantly surprised with the Pretzel Slims.
They had a thin yogurt coat with peppermint sprinkles that didn’t make the pretzel taste like toothpaste but instead balanced sweet and salty flavors well. On the other hand, the peppermint crunch popcorn was not as delightful.
The coating was too thick, and I couldn’t even tell that it was popcorn. The Joe-Joe’s are similar to chocolate-covered Oreo cookies and are very rich. If you are a chocolate lover, then I recommend
trying.
The gingerbread cookies are nothing special, yet it is still delicious, especially paired with a glass of milk. The English Toffee bites were one of my favorites with the almond coating complementing the sweetness of the toffee. Lastly, the Jingle Jangle pretzels were by far my favorite item. They are large pretzels dipped in a peanut butter candy coating, with chunks of crushed Joe Joe’s and mini M&M’s. They are messy but shareable, and most importantly, delicious.
Try all the snacks I did, and more such as marshmallows, chocolate gingerbread, and peppermint hot chocolate.
