Drama, love, and self-discovery continue in Seoul, South Korea in season two of the hit show XO. Kitty on Netflix. Main character Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), navigates her way through life as the youngest of three sisters from the movie trilogy, Too All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
In the first season Kitty applies to KISS without her dad and his girlfriend knowing but after a brief conversation they allow her to attend high school at KISS (Korean Independent School of Seoul). In season one we were allowed to discover the city of Seoul at the same time as Kitty. After she saw Seoul for the first time she immediately fell in love and wanted to go back because she felt a sense of belonging, like we do when we uncover a city that we can connect to or we can feel a certain way everytime we visit.
Kitty wants to reconnect with her mom, who also attended KISS, and learn more about her heritage. While she grows up, she relates to things you can go through as a teenager such as wanting to blossom as an individual and go off on your own path and learn about her family’s past.
In season one Kitty arrives in Korea to surprise her long-distance boyfriend, Dae but she ends
up finding him with another girl. Although Kitty is heartbroken, she makes the decision to stay at KISS until she ultimately gets kicked out for breaking school rules and has to go back home.
Kitty then gets home with no hopes of going back to KISS, although her new friend Yuri talks to her mom (the principal of KISS) and she allows her to come back the following year. When Kitty decides to come back to KISS it shows her perseverance and how she can move on and put things past her.
Kitty finds new love and friends in the first season she also shares what she goes through during friendship, love, and breakups. She allows people to connect through the screen when she shows her confusion and her perseverance.
In the new season Kitty arrives back at KISS in the fall thinking about when her friend Minho confessed his feelings to her last year and also about her developing feelings for Yuri, her friend from last school year. As we can see Kitty shows that it is okay to be unsure and viewers can feel and connect to the same emotion Kitty is going through. Although Yuri is dating Juliana, Kitty has some unresolved feelings for Yuri and has to deal with seeing them all school year because she got placed in a room with both of them. Kitty goes through heartbreak with friends and lovers but she indicates what it is like to be around this situation and the best way to solve it.
Throughout season two Kitty learns more about her heritage and her mom by first getting to KISS and learning her mom chased a boy to school from South Korea named Simon. While Kitty learns more about her past, we can not only feel emotion for her because she had to live this long without knowing about her heritage and her real family members but also connect to what she is feeling while uncovering all the new news.
The most important thing is that this show demonstrates what hardships you can go through by also showing up for your friends, family and having a good time.Kitty shows determination and love in this new season. She put everything aside to show up for her family and bring them together. She shows much emotion and love for her friends and lovers. Kitty has much confidence and leans on her friends for support and help, and puts a great example on the screen for everyone to see.
The show shows how it is important to see that even with your closest friends and family you can face conflict but then you can realize that there is nothing more valuable than your friends and family.
