Senior Angelo Posada steps onto the mat with determination and passion.
Posada started his wrestling journey at six years old, he soon found his love for wrestling. Posada has been part of the Poway High wrestling community for four years and has been an incredible asset to the varsity team’s success.
As a kid, Posada looked up to other state champs for wrestling and Hulk Hogan, a world-famous wrestler.
One of many highlights from Posadas´ wrestling career was winning his first state championship for Poway in Bakersfield, California. “One of my favorite moments would be winning the state because I’ve always looked up to the people that had won the state previously,” Posada said.
Head wrestling coach John Meyers has been coaching at Poway since 2002. He loves the dedication that the Poway family has. “Posada has done so much for our program, school, and mainly our community, Meyers said. “ Posada is a great player with so much love and potential for his sport, and I enjoy coaching these students and making new memories along the way,” Meyers said.
Athletic Director Damian Gonzalez admires how great a kid Posada has become. “He is an unbelievably gifted athlete. Tosee the things he does on the wrestling mat is incredible,” Gonzalez said. Posada was offered to wrestle at Stanford and plans to attend once graduating high school.
