Luna’s Lunpia’s, rated the best Filipino food in San Diego“sandiegogoreader”, is a welcoming and cozy restaurant with decorations covering the walls and plenty of seating area. With calm music in the background, it relaxes and makes you feel at home. Luna’s Lunpia is a family business in Poway owned by Luna Mortenson. After opening in October 2023, their ratings have been nothing short of outstanding. They offer a wide range of authentic fusion food, like Mexican, Hawaiian, Italian, Korean, and American food. Some of their most popular dishes include Lumpia, Pancit, and Spam Masubi. They serve a wide range of drinks for a variety of cravings, such as Vietnamese coffee, fruit punch, soda, and more.
On a recent visit I enjoyed multiple menu items, including a Filipino veggie pancit, a rice noodle dish.In my opinion, this was the best thing I got. It is a delicious meal and has a lot of flavor. It can feed around two people and I definitely recommend it.
Another item I tried was pork lumpia, a Filipino dish of fried spring rolls with a savory punch of either pork, cabbage, or other vegetables. I absolutely love this dish and it is amazing on its own, but I enjoy it with a sweet and sour sauce with chili flakes on the side to dip into. It comes with around 7-8 lumpia for an enjoyable appetizer or full meal.
The last thing I tried was a teriyaki Spam musubi –salty canned Spam on top of planks of rice. It is delicious with a mouthwatering teriyaki sauce between the panko fried spam, bed of rice, and wrapped in seaweed. This dish feeds one to two people and could also be a good side dish. I loved this mix of savory and sweet and the blend of flavors all around, and it was one of the best dishes I got. I would definitely get it again.
I would highly recommend trying Luna’s Lunpia to enjoy their amazing food. Supporting local small businesses like Luna’s Lunpia can continue to make their delicious meals for Poway to enjoy.
