What are your holiday traditions?

Students and staff celebrate many different ways during the winter holiday season.

They practice their traditions with cultural cuisines and gifting practices.

“Since I’m a Christian, I celebrate Christmas for religious reasons. We go to Church on Christmas every year if it lands on a Sunday. And, before eating or opening presents, we read a scripture or have a religious lesson.”

“My family doesn’t celebrate Hanukkah very traditionally. We still have all of the meals with lots of traditional Jewish food, but we do all of our presents on the first night. The rest of the nights are usually spent eating the meals and lighting the candles.”

“Every Christmas when we wake up we listen to a Mickey Mouse cover of a Christmas song. Someone from my family dresses up like Mickey Mouse, usually my dog. And we skip every meal except dinner to have ham, mac and cheese, and sparkling cider.”
