Poway Lake has recently opened a new cafe, The Lookout, for visitors to enjoy.
The Lookout, for most of its time at the edge of Poway Lake, has been used primarily for the purchase of bait for fishing and snacks to eat while enjoying the activities the lake has to offer. However, recently the space has undergone renovations and introduced a cafe/diner into its infrastructure.
The cafe provides multiple options like toast for the morning and hot dogs at lunchtime. The cafe also has many coffee selections, including espresso drinks for anyone who needs a kick in the morning to get their day started. They can also indulge in feeding the numerous ducks and birds that inhabit the area.
Wildlife at Poway Lake is abundant and diverse, including species such as the California Condor, Mallard Duck, Mountain Lion, and several fish species under the water of the lake. “I like that it’s a pocket of nature in a city that can seem pretty urbanized sometimes,” Poway Lake ranger Robert Howser said.
As somebody who has gone to the lake many times as a child, I found it very enjoyable to spend time in The Lookout and admire its renovations. The views out on the balcony were fantastic and peaceful, and I would recommend the Hibiscus Tea to anybody willing to try it out.
Overall, The Lookout is a tranquil retreat from the business world, allowing people to unwind after a long day of work or school, as the cafe is open from six AM to 30 minutes before sunset.
