ASB has hosted the senior trip to Disneyland for the past decade, but this year the responsibility was handed to the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).
While PTSA has been interested in hosting the senior trip for a while, the switch was due to the district having liability concerns.
ASB director Erica Rangel said nothing will majorly change. Rangel and the PTSA, are working together to make the Disneyland experience run smoothly and create meaningful memories.
PTSA was handed the responsibility in October and has been planning the trip since. “We are happy we are able to help ASB and the seniors out on such short notice,” PTSA president Kim Crawford said.
There is uncertainty surrounding the following years and who will manage the trip, whether it be ASB or PTSA. The district presented new requirements for the out-of county trip, making it difficult for ASB to host it.
When PTSA found out that ASB was not able to plan the trip, they took over the planning. The biggest change is a tighter limit on students able to go, with a cap of 335 seniors.
The $215 cost of the trip goes to cover the cost of five buses, as well as the entrance price of Disneyland.
“It’s an expensive trip, I will admit, but the memories made will be much more meaningful,” Rangel said.
Students can purchase tickets until Nov.11. Because of the limited spots, seniors are advised to get their tickets on the PTSA website (https://www.powayptsa.org/disneyland) as soon as possible.
“PTSA is excited to be able to support the 2024-25 Senior Disneyland trip and is hopeful that it will be a success and students will have fond memories of the experience,” Crawford said.
