Students use UberEats daily to order meals. It is easy to order from their phone and food comes in 15-20 minutes. However, students cannot order UberEats during school hours due to safety precautions. Nonetheless, many students order food during school hours and campus security often picks them up and gives them to the front office. Using any food delivery service is against Poway High School policy. “We don’t want strangers coming to our school where our students are supposed to be safe,” Principal Richard Nash said.
If students want UberEats they can order it before or after school just not during school hours. “We can’t verify the people that are working for UberEats,” Sheriff’s Deputy Erika Aguirre said. Campus Security is in charge of monitoring what comes through campus gates. Gene Morris monitors the back gates after lunch during the 4th period.
He personally does not trust food delivery. “I don’t use Uber Eats because I don’t know who will pick up my food or if they will poison it,” he said. If Uber Eats is delivered to campus, staff will confiscate it and give it to the front office, where students can pick it up at the end of the day.
