Unified P.E. has partnered with Del Norte and will have a regular soccer game as well as a championship with Del Norte High School on Nov 1. Students will assemble during the 3rd period for a modified schedule to cheer for the athletes..

Senior Aidan Marshall, a player for Unified P.E. The player believes the game inspires disabled people all around.
“Everyone is going to get the opportunity to play. It will be our first time playing against another team,” Marshall said.
In particular the emotions as well the determination, “ This is my first time doing a game and I’m nervous but I will try my best to get a win for our team,” Namani Hugh said.
The Special Education Department Chairperson Mindy. Karp, a part of the Unified P.E. the teachers team explained that Unified P.E. promotes inclusion and brings the whole school together. It promotes many opportunities across the school to add more inclusive activities and classes.
The district has plans to expand the program to more schools across the district. “We have partnered with Del Norte. By the end of the year we hope to connect all of the Poway Unified High Schools,” Principal Richard Nash said.
The opportunity for everyone to participate in Unified P.E. adds more excitement District-wide, as well as the team opportunity to play more games against other teams.
On Oct. 1st a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the Special Olympics organization and Poway Unified School District was signed in the Titan stadium to bring support to Unified P.E. The MOU gives unified P.E financial stability such as team supplies, and recognition for Unified P.E.
With this new future ahead of Unified P.E., The team will shine brightly for the upcoming game and will bring a side of Poway never seen before.
