Sitting in the Arby’s parking lot, photography teacher Aaron Jaffe munches on a meaty roast beef sandwich.
Jaffe started his YouTube channel back when COVID-19 began in 2019.
The reason and motivation behind his channel was, ironically, Arby’s. He had multiple friends ask him if Arby’s was good, but he could never remember.
So he decided to film himself trying it to remember what he thought of it, which led to him filming himself eating at new locations.
Jaffe currently has around 70 videos reviewing eateries.
His most popular video is Prince Street Pizza, with almost 800 views. He was in the heart of downtown San Diego, where he claims to have had the best pizza ever. Overnight he went from 30 to ten thousand followers on social media.
“I went into COVID-19 with 30 followers on Twitter, and I got to over 10,000 over the quarantine,”
Jaffe said, adding that the channel gets good reactions from people, and he has lots of students from other schools who can recognize him from his channel.
Junior Analise Kepler is a big fan of Jaffe’s Big Bites,
“I think his channel is very entertaining, and it’s fun to see a teacher post YouTube videos.”
Jaffe says that he does his videos because, “I’d like to think that I have a fun personality, and I say really funny things sometimes. So some of my food reviews, I’ll say something dumb and they’re like ‘Oh, that’s entertaining.’ It’s kind of like a goofy thing.”
In the videos Jaffe eats the food and then gives a thorough review. He doesn’t sugarcoat it for views. He gave his honest opinion on Arby’s, he said, “The ratio is not good on the standard beef and cheddar. It’s weird.”
Some places he enjoyed were; MrBeast Burgers, Canes, and Dave’s Hot Chicken. He does not have a favorite food, but his current obsession is carne asada nachos as well as any kind of noodles.
Some foods he does not like at all include weird textured foods such as Durian fruit.
Jaffe has been busy with coaching soccer and his daily life, so he hasn’t posted much lately but he said he will be back soon.
Jaffe loves to branch out and try new and exotic foods.
