Aubrey Lopez had to quit her dance team to find what she truly had a passion for. Instead of Dance, she trained in trapezing while her maine was lyra.
Lopez believes trapeze is a team sport because everyone works together and pushes each other to be their best. She practices at San Diego Circus Center for 2-3 hours every weekday and sometimes four hours on Saturdays. Lopez is fully committed to trapeze and sees a bright future ahead of her.
Her teammate Lana Kapelczak says Lopez “is a friend to everyone and always makes sure all those around her feel included.” and loves to promote her team’s attitude. “Aubrey is very caring and always puts others’ needs before her own,” Coach Kapelczak states. Her community loves her, and her teammates believe she will be soaring in her future career in trapeze.
Lopez’s coach Lana Kapelczak, (who has the same name as Lopez’s teammate). said Aubrey has progressed with much passion through her eight- and-a-half years of trapeze, focusing on her main apparatus, Lyra. Lyra is a metal hoop that is brought up into the air with Lopez doing gymnastics on it.
“Aubrey never settles for anything less than her measure of perfection and in every training session and performance, she strives to be better, stronger, and more artistic with every ounce of effort she delivers,¨ Coach Kapelczak said. Lopez’s favorite memory is her first time winning first at a competition.
