Quad Clean Up
Principal Richard Nash has plans for re-doing the quad by the N buildings.
“We are looking to get rid of that dirt back there to make it more comfortable,” Nash said. Plans include adding more shade by planting more trees with additional tables for more students to sit during break and lunch.
Money donated by families and the foundation would fund the project.. The families that donated will receive a brick with their name on it, which will be built into a wall.
Hoco Excitement
This year’s homecoming is going to be a blast, with a silent disco along with a regular dance floor. Save the dat, Oct. 12 at the Birch Aquarium from 7 to 10 p.m.
“It’s an amazing venue. I’ve been wanting it since freshman year,” ASB President Mackenzie Juza said. Ticket prices range start at $55 the first week of sales, and will go up to $80 on the last day of selling tickets.
Exclusive Enrollment
ACal State San Marcos (CSUSM) dual enrollment program was approved by the Poway School District board at their meeting.
The class being offered is Introduction to Personal Health and Wellness. The course comes with many benefits like credits towards college courses, starting to earn a bachelor’s degree in arts and human development, and earning certificates as a wellness coach.
The class is only being offered at Del Norte High School but board members are working on expansion to other schools.
1st Week Hall Expectations
A new school year means new rules because of the student behavior of the last school year. Now students are required, when leaving a classroom, to take a bathroom pass with them.
In addition, the administration is enforcing a no vaping policy in the bathrooms, because it causes a disturbance to other students actually using the bathroom and is against school rules.
Path To Success
College visits to the Titan Center provide an opportunity to learn about colleges without having to travel and spend money.
Guidance technician Jaime Brown recommends all grade levels go to college visits, and freshmen should start with one or two visits. Brown suggests seniors should visit all the colleges they are interested in applying to.
Some upcoming visiting colleges are the University of Arizona on Oct. 7, and Washington State University on Oct. 4.
