Community gem appeases all appetites

Mama Mia, here we go again, my, my, how can I resist you.  One of El Misa’s most popular menu items is The Mama Mia. The delicious blends of the meats and cheeses of the sandwich give it an irresistible flavor that makes your mouth water and your stomach happy.

This neighborhood cafe steals hearts and heads through homemade food and creative recipes that satisfy appetites of all ages. From sandwiches to salads, gelato to coffee, and everything in between, Elmisa Cafe serves a wide range of divine cuisine that tickles your taste buds.

This treasured find is family owned and is named after the owner Eddy Jabbour’s three daughters, Elise, Mia, and Sasha. The girls attend Rancho Bernardo High School, and the family lives in the Westwood area, only blocks away from their restaurant.

Elmisa Cafe has a variety of delicious coffee drinks. I ordered the Blended Mocha, which was made with coffee, milk, chocolate, ice, whip cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. This drink kept me energized and my head in the game for a long day of virtual learning.

The Chicken Caesar Salad is made with grilled chicken, chopped romaine, baby kale, shaved parmesan cheese, homemade croutons, and tossed with Caesar dressing. Grape tomatoes add a unique touch to the salad. This delightful meal satisfied my sweet tooth.

The Cafe’s Signature Salad is the El Misa Salad. Its ingredients include chicken breast, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, red onions, arugula, romaine, spinach with pesto vinaigrette and drizzle of balsamic glaze. Every bite I took of it made me want more.

This Cafe is a Vegan Hot Spot because they serve The Beyond Burger, a plant-based burger that is made with tomato, lettuce, red onions, and mustard on sourdough bread. Another popular vegan item on the menu is The Nutella Toast, made with Nutella, strawberries, bananas, and sprinkled with coconut flakes.

El Misa offers plenty of ways to order food. You can order online ahead of time, by phone, or at the counter upon arrival. If you need to take your order to-go, you can just pull up to the curb, call the number on the sign, and they will bring it straight to your car.

You can enjoy your food inside the cafe or out on the patio. Patio dining allows you to catch a breath of fresh air and stay safe in the times of COVID-19.

Not only are the food and specialty coffees delicious, but you can always make your tummy happy with the home baked cookies, pastries and the Italian Gelato ice cream.

This community gem can appease any appetite, so I recommend you go check it out. Elmisa cafe is located at 11611 Rancho Bernardo Rd., San Diego, CA 92128. The phone number of the cafe is 858-432-4504
