GIRLS’ SOCCER KICKING TO THE END OF SEASON

The girls’ varsity soccer team is on their way to the playoff season with a 7-3-5 record. Senior Sydney Kallman is someone who stepped up and gave the team the push they needed to make a great senior run. Kallman’s best game was versus Del Norte Jan 22, where she scored twice in a 3-2 dub.

“My sister left this school after being on varsity, and I felt it was my responsibility as a senior and a returning player to be a leader, and help us on completing our goal of winning CIF,” Kallman said.

In their most recent match-up against Rancho Bernardo High School on Jan. 1, the girls scored two goals after being down 2-1 at halftime, giving the Titans the win over the Broncos. They are all-around strong players, with some great leaders.

“My favorite game was our RB game because it was super important to beat the rivals senior year, and to do it in that fashion was awesome,”  senior wingback Devyn Kern said.

The team’s hopes for a CIF run continue to grow as they gain the momentum. They need to be the best they can be and give it their all in order to win league, and win out in the playoffs. The main thing keeping the team together is the chemistry they have with each other, because most of the girls played with one another the past few years.

“These girls have been playing together for years and their chemistry is amazing. It’s great to see how they’ve developed, and I think they’re good enough to win a championship,”  Coach Aaron Jaffe said. The girls play great together whether it be on defense and they trap forwards and mids causing the opponents to give up the ball, or it be the forwards giving great passes and better shots.

The team plays today, Feb. 14 against their rivals, the Rancho Bernardo Broncos in an away game at RB.
