One of the biggest teams on campus, Track and Field is also one of the most fun athletic opportunities offered here. Though both Track and Field are popular, Track is arguably even more beloved than its counterpart Field.
Consisting of events such as sprints, relay races, distances, and hurdles, the sport tests both the skill and agility of the runner.
The team did a very impressive job this year. Some of the Poway athletes advanced on May 26 at Mt. Carmel to the state championships.
Some of these athletes include Ashley Allums, Mia Cervantes, Camryn Thomson, Lindy Cornwall, and Maggie Lusk.
Senior hurdler Thomas Bridgham said “the season was great and we had a lot of people go to CIF.”
“Track is very fun and although it is an individual sport, it brings you together with all of your teammates,” Bridgham expressed.
Junior Chloe Kauffman had similar thoughts. “The season went really well this year. As a whole team we are doing really well.”
Kauffman described how the season went for her. “Personally, I’ve ran really well too. I’ve worked on my speed and quickness and was able to PR in my 100 and 200, so that was great! The team dynamic is wonderful and everyone is able to work together really well and we all have a good time.”
