The 2018 season went well for the boys lacrosse team. Finishing the season with a record of 10-9 and going all the way to the semifinals for CIF. The Titans final game came at Torrey Pines High School against the Falcons on Wednesday May 16.
The final game started of rough for the Titans considering Torrey Pines had a 6-0 lead after the first quarter of the game. Once the second quarter started, the Titans woke up and scored 2 goals.
“I’m not going to lie, we started off slow at first, but eventually we woke up and scored a few goals. Torrey was on all night though and by the time the second half started they ran away with the game” Senior Captain Jack Estepp said.
Another memorable moment from the teams season was a buzzer beater performed by junior Eli Butler against the Nobles, a team from Massachusetts. The game went to overtime and within the first two minutes Butler scored the winning goal to end the game.
“That game was pretty unreal. It was a close one all game and everyone knew we needed the win. By the time overtime came around I just gave it a rip for the winning goal” Junior Eli Butler said.
Unforunently, Poway is losing some phenomenal players this year. These players include seniors Chase Crawford, Harrison Greaves, Jack Estepp, John Darcy, Kienan Morrissey, and Kellen Cutting. The team will be an entirely different team next year, and they will be missed dearly.
Even though their season is over, returning players for next year are optimistic for a good season next year even without the boys.
